Day 1
Arrival at Gangi Village
Your journey begins with an 8-9 hour scenic drive from Dehradun to Ghuttu Village through the beautiful Bhilangana Valley, passing iconic spots like Tehri Lake, Dobra Chanti, and the Tehri Dam. Upon reaching Ghuttu, you will meet the trekking team and continue to Gangi, the last village in the region. Overnight stay will be in a guesthouse at Gangi.
Day 2
Gangi to Kalyani
The second day begins with a trek from Gangi to Kalyani, where you’ll encounter breathtaking views of rolling meadows and towering peaks. The trail is moderate, offering several water sources and pleasant rest stops along the way. You’ll camp at Kalyani, surrounded by lush green meadows.
Day 3
Kalyani to Tadi Odyar Campsite
Prepare for a longer trek of around 12 km on this day. The trail gains elevation as you trek through forests and past scenic spots. As you ascend, the tree cover begins to thin out, offering a clearer view of the towering Himalayan peaks. By late afternoon, you’ll reach Tadi Odyar Campsite, where you’ll rest and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Day 4
Tadi Odyar to Sahastra Tal
This is the highlight of the trek as you make your way to Sahastra Tal. After breakfast, pack up camp and set off for the lake, crossing beautiful high-altitude meadows and spotting smaller lakes along the way. As you approach Sahastra Tal, the panoramic views of snow-capped Himalayan peaks, combined with the surreal beauty of the lakes, create an unforgettable experience. Spend the rest of the day exploring the lakes and enjoying the serenity of the campsite near Sahastra Tal
Day 5
Sahastra Tal to Tadi Odyar Campsite
After enjoying a morning at Sahastra Tal, you will begin your descent back to Tadi Odyar. The 5-6 hour trek is steep, but the beautiful memories of Sahastra Tal will keep your spirits high. Overnight at Tadi Odyar campsite.
Day 6
Tadi Odyar to Gangi and back to Ghuttu
The final day begins with a short trek back to Gangi, after which you’ll take a vehicle back to Ghuttu. From here, you can arrange for transport back to Dehradun (transport cost is not included in the trek package). This marks the end of your memorable Sahastra Tal adventure.
