Day 1 DEHRADUN TO SANKRI (6 - 7 HRS DRIVE)
Embark on a scenic drive from Dehradun to Sankri, where your adventure begins. Upon arrival, head to Jobra's dam site, the starting point of your trek. Traverse through a diverse landscape, passing through mixed forests adorned with pine, spruce, deodar, chestnut, and maple trees. Journey through picturesque meadows, possibly encountering a Gaddi shepherd camp along the way. If needed, navigate a river crossing and ascend along a side stream to reach Chikha, a charming meadow. Today's hike is relatively short, lasting about 2 hours. Take time to rest and enjoy a quick walk to a nearby waterfall.
Day 2 CHIKA TO BALU KA GHERA (4-5 HRS TREK)
Prepare for an engaging trek today as you depart from Chika and head towards Balu ka Ghera. Cross a stream early on and begin ascending towards a gorge section on the river's right side. Traverse boulder-strewn paths and wildflower meadows as you make your way to Balu-ka-Gheera, your campsite for the night.
Day 3 BALU KA GHERA TO SIAGORU CROSSING HAMPTA PASS
Begin your day early, around 5 - 6 a.m., depending on weather and trail conditions. Today's trek involves crossing the iconic Hampta Pass, which may be partially or entirely covered in snow depending on the season. Embark on a steep ascent from the campsite, navigating challenging terrain to reach the pass. Enjoy panoramic views from the summit before descending to Siagoru for the night.
Day 4 SIAGORU TO CHATRU
Embark on a relatively simple downhill trek from Siagoru to Chatru, lasting approximately 5 hours. Descend from an elevation of 12,900 feet to 11,000 feet, enjoying pleasant views along the way. The trail follows the river valley, offering scenic vistas of the surrounding landscape.
Day 5 FINAL DAY - CHATRU TO MANALI
Weather permitting, embark on an optional hike to the breathtaking Chandratal Lake, also known as the Moon Lake. Alternatively, proceed directly to Manali from Chatru. Chandratal Lake, located 70 kilometers away, offers mesmerizing blue hues and stunning surroundings during the summer months. A vehicle can be arranged for transportation to and from Chandratal Lake. Otherwise, proceed on the journey to Manali, concluding your memorable trekking adventure.
